CHORUS I remember the day old man Ray opened up his occult bookstore I remember the day like it was yesterday my my, my my, hey hey VERSE 1 There were crystal gripping hippies there were right-wing, fundie Christies They started to pray, "Lord, take this store away!" 'twas a sight to be seen 'til the scene got mean. There were fights in the alleys there were riots in the streets. CHORUS VERSE 2 He had voodoo glow skulls sitting in the window He had books on learning how to raise the dead For a dollar, you could meet ol' Robert Ripley, and show him things that would make him turn his head! FINAL CHORUS I remember the day old man Ray closed up his occult bookstore I remember the day like it was yesterday I guess the Lord took his store away I guess the Lord just took his store away.

This Town 04:06
When I woke up was in a place I could not recall when I woke up didn't know where I was at all when I woke up I did not know my name when I woke up nothing was quite the same (that's when a man came up to me and he said) "Hey, clown, get outta my town! I don't wanna catch you hangin' around!" He said, "Hey, clown, get outta my town! I don't wanna catch you hangin' around!" (etc.) When I woke up could not recall last night Did I fall and hit my head, or did get into a fight? Had I been doped, or simply had to much too drink? When I woke up you know it hurt my head to think (that's when a man came up to me and he said...)

Particular 04:23
You must be particular when dealing with certain members of the human race. You must be meticulous to the point of being ridiculous when dealing with certain members of the human race. You must be very, very, very, very, very particular.

about

Tape Machine is a 25 minute EP exploring the themes of paranoia, the paranormal, social unrest, dystopia and, even, hope -- in embracing the vastness of our universe and our inevitable doom to oblivion. It's a happy record!

Written over the course of 3 months in early 2012, this EP utilizes a variety of musical technologies and methods to produce R&B/hiphop influenced alternative music and electronic soundscapes (think Cage the Elephant, Beck, Bjork). For example, the opening track, "Begin Transmission," features a Tascam 4-track cassette tape recorder with a looped cassette tape running inside. The sounds captured on tape come from a variety of sources -- both digital and analogue. Good ol' lo-fi, experimental electronica, but that's just the first track!
Other tracks make use of the Tascam 4-track, but the majority use vintage, "toy" keyboards, synth modules, samplers and even iPhone-based synthesizers being sequenced and recorded for further manipulation within Ableton Live.

Instruments abused for this EP include a Yamaha QY70, an iPod Touch running Argon Synth in an Akai SynthStation25, a Zoom SampleTrak ST-224 sampler, Figure for iPhone 4, a Yamaha PSS-130 and a Tascam Porta02 4-track cassette tape recorder being played like an instrument with looped cassette tapes running inside.
